The next Repair Cafe event is on Saturday 18th November at All Saints Church, Swanage 2-4pm. Come along for:
- Clothes repair. Bring your favourite items of clothing that are in need of repair and our volunteer fixers will be on hand to help you make all possible repairs ( we cannot do zips unfortunately) No charge although donations welcome to cover costs of running events.
- Do you or someone you know have skills in repairing anything from clocks, bikes, small electrical items or furniture and many other household items? Come along on Saturday to find out more about signing up to be a repair café volunteer at our next events. We have seasoned repairer Stewart on hand who is from Wimborne Repair café, he will answer your questions and discuss what type of things get repaired. Be part of a positive community project and help promote repair and save more broken items from the rubbish bin.
- Clothes swap – refresh your wardrobe at the clothes swap stall. Bring your good condition, clean clothes for a swap, up to 10 items per person, 1 item = 1 token. Childrens, Mens and womens clothing (no shoes unfortunately) 2pm-2.30pm drop off. 3pm -4pm come back to spend your tokens.
A cuppa and chat about all things repair! – tea, coffee and cake available, donations to cover costs
Following the success of our clothing repair events, we are supporting the development of a repair café for Purbeck. This is an international movement inspired by the will to prevent good quality items being thrown away if they can be repaired. We are looking for volunteers to get involved.

We have been working with members of the community helping them learn new skills in identifying and surveying wildlife on public greenspaces, schools and churches.
Funding from Planet Purbeck Festival has enables us to put on more natural history courses for the community to help more people learn and connect with nature around them.
On Tuesday 28th September we held a themed open evening event all about the River Swan and its catchment area, inspired by World Rivers Day. Fascinating talks and information stalls were showcased to help us understand our local river system, its history, catchment area, condition, how it is managed and how we can all play a part in reducing pollution and flooding.
With thanks to Environment Agency, Wessex Water, Dorset AONB and National Trust for their input. Following this meeting we have much interest in developing projects and partnerships in our catchment.
